From 1 January 2021, float-free emergency position indicating radio beacons (EPIRBs) will be mandatory on All FISHING, PASSENGER, and NON-PASSENGER DCV (Class 1, 2, and 3) that are:
1. 12 or more metres in length and operate beyond 2 nautical miles seaward from land
2. Less than 12 metres in length operating in restricted offshore and offshore waters (B or C waters) and do not have level flotation, and
3. All hire and drive vessels operating in restricted offshore waters (Class 4C) 12 or more metres in length, or less than 12 metres and do not have level flotation.

Recycle/safely dispose of your EPIRB / battery

These new Jotron EPIRBS are a cinch to program & register yourself and what’s more we’ll help you dispose of any old EPIRB you may have to make sure it’s disposed of safely and responsibly. FYI any old EPIRB has to be unregistered from the AMSA database and as you know all batteries need to be recycled for the valuable material contained in them and to avoid the release of toxic materials into the environment.
